What a fantastically unique spot. The blue dog has wonderful food, great broadway tunes style entertainment, and awesome Sangria. Only open on weekend nights and there is only one small dining room-don't forget to get a reservation! Great prices for an upscale menu.

Snow Hill is a wonderful, small town community on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. It is charming, relaxed, warm, welcoming, and plays host to a number of great restaurants. Among them, the Blue Dog Cafe stands out. We were on vacation, camping nearby and wanted to enjoy dinner one evening in town and, preferably, outside. The BDC fit the bill to a T. With their ample outdoor patio/deck, we felt like we were relaxing at home in our own back yard. There is a little outdoor bar and enough seating for a crowd of people, but being later in the evening, there were only 3 other tables of diners. Colin, our waiter, was fantastic and answered all our questions--not just about the menu, but about Snow Hill. He made several menu recommendations, among which was the crab dip (his grandfather's recipe), and the blackened tuna sandwich. Both were excellent--although I would venture to say that the family recipe crab dip was outstanding. The other items on the menu were equally tempting and it was a bit difficult to restrain ourselves from ordering more than our tummies could hold. Inside, the restaurant is home to a singing waiter who, accompanied by live piano, offers up a medley of show tunes. Fun! Next time you are on the Shore, make sure you come to Snow Hill. It's worth the detour from well known towns like Berlin. And be sure to stop by the Blue Dog Cafe for lunch, dinner, or drinks on the patio!

Terrific restaurant! We went there on a whim based on Yelp! reviews and we were very impressed. Cozy place, friendly staff, great service, EXCELLENT food. Rock fish w/crab stuffing was great. Crab cakes were great. Flat bread pizza was nummy. Chinese salad was the best I've had. All-around great for a family of four.

When I heard dinner and a show, I was excited to go to this place. The restaurant/cafe itself was cute and comfortable for the most part and the staff is all very friendly. Unfortunately, despite having made reservations and getting there on times, my party of four was stuck at a two top (myself and other family members are over 6 foot) and we were cramped. It took a while for the waitress to grab our drink order and for the drinks to come. More over, it took 20 or 30 min to get glasses refilled and after several rounds of drinks we practically had to put the empty classes and drink shakers in the arms of the waitresses. The menu was not long, which typically says to me that the food is good. After waiting an hour for the food I was pissed and by the hour and a half mark my party almost left. One waitress said someone in the back got the orders wrong and another said the kitchen was shorthanded or something. All in all, besides the missing food, I knew something was wrong when I looked around the restaurant and 95% of the people did not have their food. When I go to a restaurant I expect an experience. The cute decor and the performers were nice for 45 min, but after a certain point even the lead singer, a male (i believe is a friend of the owner) got old. I can only listen to someone so diva for so long without food. When the food finally did come it was good, but not worth the wait. I attribute the rating of good, to the fact that we were all famished by the time it got to the table. To the owners credit, he came over and apologized for the wait and comped some of the drinks. His excuse was that the food was all made from scratch. Ok given some of the food may have been fresh,t all restaurants are supposed to prep food, so it can get out within 20-30 minutes. The food my party ordered was a shrimp dish, pizza, lasagna, and some kind of fish. Those are simple meals. To top it off, the couple sitting a table behind us waited over 2 hours and only got their food as my party was leaving. I felt very bad for them as most of the restaurant was empty. I would not go back.

La Cage Aux Follies meets the Eastern Shore. The Blue Dog Cafe is a fabulous addition to one of the most picturesque (and undiscovered) towns in Worcester County. Some friends from the Berlin area took us here last weekend for dinner and we had a thoroughly excellent time all around. Like La Cage aux Follies, the owners live above the restaurant and one performs with the band of the evening (as well as waiting), while the other manages the establishment. The patrons are a friendly group of locals and as a result there's a wonderfully festive, cabaret atmosphere. Most importantly, the food and service are quite good and a great value. The appetizers were excellent (my better half had the asian slaw, I had the crab quesadilla special). The wine list was simple, but good, the service was excellent and the prices are cheap. Dinner for most of us was the New Orleans Bayou Shrimp, beautifully done with a tasty sauce perfect for soaking up with the excellent sourdough baguettes served with dinner. The desserts were home made by one of the owners. I don't normally eat desserts, but I couldn't pass up the special "peppermint patty chocolate cake" (chocolate cake with mint creme filling between the 2 layers, quite sublime). My only complaint is that my GF's tuna was overdone. Searing a tuna should be as automatic as it gets, but it was still fairly moist and the mango sauce was good. We're looking forward to making the trek to Snow Hill again!

Blue Dog makes for a very enjoyable and refreshingly different evening out. Snow Hill is bit out of the way for Salisbury and Berlin people, but in my humble opinion, it's worth the drive. The food was "A-OK". They have a very simple menu, with 4 entrees, 3 sandwiches, a few salads and 3 appetizers. On the Saturday night we went, they had 2 entree specials and 2 appetizer specials. Hubby and I both chose the rockfish imperial special with side house salads. The salads were unexciting, but everything was fresh. The rockfish imperial was excellent! They did put a little red pepper into the "imperial", which I usually hate. The chef put in only a teensy amount of red pepper so that it did not overpower the flavor of the crab for me. The squash medley and potatoes served as sides were done well -- not overcooked like so many other places we go. The desserts were homemade and terrific! I had a chocolate caramel mocha cake (half of it is in my fridge right now... it was pretty big! I guarantee it won't survive the night, however...), and hubby had an incredible raspberry cheesecake. Hubby's cake crust tasted delicious, but it was very hard to cut through with his fork. Blue Dog has a bar, and I tried one of their "special" drinks...a sangria. It wasn't quite what I was expecting -- no fresh fruit in the glass and it didn't taste nearly as good as other sangrias I've had elsewhere. Prices are definitely in line with what you're getting here. We were fine with what we paid. Service was very good, with pretty much everyone on the wait staff checking in on us at some time or another. Not intrusive, though! Okay, now for what makes Blue Dog different: the entertainment! Two of the waiters (I think at least one of them is an owner) will break out into song as they are walking around. One of them regularly went over to the front of the restaurant and sang along with the piano (yes, live piano, too!) with or without a microphone. These guys don't just fancy that they can sing, they really can sing! Mostly they did show tunes, so if you hate that, then you might want to steer clear of Blue Dog. One fellow sang a Garth Brooks song, as well as "Hallelujah", and both teamed up for a duet of "The Rose", so they do sing other things. It looks like they, including the pianist, take requests, too. Decor is nice with an old chandelier over the piano, and cushiony benches along the walls. One wall has a stage (they have other live entertainment there from time to time as well) with a movie screen which they pulled down for a totally random showing of "Solid Potato Salad" -- an old dance number done by 3 lady contortionists. You can check that out on YouTube, if the spirit moves you. We'll definitely be going again. Blue Dog seems like a great place to bring family or a date (if he/she likes show tunes, of course!)

My husband and I have traveled extensively, enjoying visits to all 50 states. Believe me when I tell you Blue Dog deserves every one of these 5 stars! It's like an evening in an upscale restaurant located in your living room. Its elegant, but not pretentious as some restaurants tend to be in a misguided effort to impress you. The food and service are outstanding and the prices are the most reasonable in the area for the the quality of food served. The menu is limited but creative; the rockfish is my personal favorite! You can relax here and enjoy the music (Todd is incredibly talented!) - no one ever rushes you so they can turn over the table. However, they are filled to capacity most nights, so you'd do well to make a reservation. Even if you don't have room left for dessert, do yourself a favor and get some to take home for later! Yes, we're locals, but we have eaten from coast to coast and know from experience what a treasure Blue Dog is!

This place is a hidden gem! I'm almost reluctant to write the kind of review that this place deserves... because if word get out HOW FANTASTIC it is... I might not be able to get a table. The food is simply wonderful and the service is fantastic. You are greeted at the door by Gary, the owner, and you are treated like an old friend. I know... people say that... but in this case it's true. This guy is a real people person. The service reflects this. It was friendly and attentive without being fawning or over the top. They just make you feel at home. And then... the entertainment starts. Another of the owners, (Todd), is a singing waiter... wait! I know what you're going to say, "oh... singing waiter... been there.... done that!" Well forget it buddy! This guy is like nothing you've ever seen before! I have never heard a better singer in my life and trust me... I've seen LOTS of Broadway shows! This guy is fantastic! BUT the best part... he doesn't just stand there and sing between courses. He actually sings WHILE serving!! He's moving the whole time, delivering dishes... making wine recommendations in-between the verse and the chorus. It's so smooth it looks rehearsed. Seriously, I have NEVER seen anything like it.... My jaw was hanging open. Todd is simply incredible. People are driving an hour and a half to get to this place. I'm not kidding. As I have said, I've lived in Toronto and New York and this place is like no other place I have ever been! Plan a trip! You've gotta see this place!

Atmosphere was cool and food was great. We arrived at 5:30 as they were just opening for dinner and there was 1 large table and then another small table showed up. At 630pm, our waiter turned into the musical act and began singing. Crab Dip- Tasted OK. Not much lump crab meat and it should have been served warmer. They did bring out extra bread for the dip, so that was a positive. Duck Breast Special- Very good! The mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes were lukewarm and should have been warmer when the food was served. The duck breast was great and was served warm. Crab Cake Dinner- Very Good Burger- Very Good Ice Cream Sundaes- 3 large scoops of ice cream. Kids enjoyed them ($6 each) Spent $100 for 4 people including 4 bottles of beer. Overall- Worth Going and would go back again when in the area.

If you're looking for really good food, a great venue, and one of a kind entertainment there's nowhere you're likelier to find it than the Blue Dog on a Friday night. The atmosphere is so upbeat I almost laughed out loud walking to our table. Our meal was beautifully prepared and presented, the music of the WWTunes band, the singing waiter, our host and assorted guests more fun than anyone can imagine. The only crisis of the evening came with having to decide which of the desserts to have. The lemon cake was heaven! I'd recommend the Blue Dog to anyone. This was our third visit, and with any luck we'll return when we next visit the area.

Went to the Blue Dog the week before Christmas with 3 other couples. The service was good and the food was excellent . The entertainment was very good consisting of Christmas songs, show tunes and and other selections. We would definitely return.

Amateur hour. Stood in the front entrance for a solid 3 minutes, 4ft away from two servers and had to prompt a server to even acknowledge us. Were seated, got drinks relatively fast, but then waited almost 40min for our dinner. Which was composed of two salads and an appetizer. Granted they had a live band playing and it seems their SOP is to take orders as they come thru, that kind of info needs to be shared with customers. We were clueless and couldnt inquire since our server didnt check on us for 30min. Fortunately they have a heavy hand with drinks and the cook is excellent. That saved part of the evening for us until we got our bill and discovered they didn't return our credit card. We found it lying out in the open at the server stand, which was at the front entrance, so anyone could have taken off with it and gone on a spending spree. Never going back.

Wow! This place was recommended to us by the owner of Cedars B & B. We ordered the fish special and baked clams, both of which were really fresh and deliciously prepared. There was a pianist and banjo player taking requests. Great times!

A dining experience like no other on the Shore. Great food & cocktails, a nice mix of beer options (bottle only), including Dogfish! Where else can you be served an eclectic mix of vegetarian and carnivore entrees whilst being serenaded with Broadway show tunes by your server? Truly an original. Oh, and perhaps the best part of the menu? DESSERT. Todd (the singing waiter/owner), makes all the deserts from scratch, and they are incredible. One small caveat: if you're looking for a quick meal, this isn't it. But, you're guaranteed to enjoy every single minute of your dining experience. The entire staff makes you feel completely at home and they're in no rush to get you out the door.
